My Teaching Philosophy

Technology has had a major impact on today’s world and it has changed the classroom as well. Students are used to lights, colors, and action; traditional teaching does not appeal to the children. It is important for teachers to learn to harness the power of technology to increase the learning and knowledge they impart to their students.

A technology-saturated classroom can be beneficial for teachers and students alike. The role of a teacher is to ensure that each student in her classroom is learning and growing. A teacher needs to make sure that the lesson is appropriate and that each and every student can learn from it.  Teachers can use online resources to teach the students new material and this can free her time to work and help students. It also gives the students the opportunity to learn new things at their own pace. They can watch and re-watch instructional videos until they have the information clear. They do not have pressure from peers who understand information faster than they do.

 The teacher also needs to remember that students come from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Technology gives individual students the ability to individualize their learning. They have different and diverse opportunities. Students can collaborate with other students who are of similar background and nationality. They can join and form learning communities.

Technology has the power to engage students. It can make learning both interesting and enjoyable. Many recent students have shown that students learn more and get higher grades when technology is integrated correctly into the classroom. Traditional teaching may not work for this generation, but they have creative and innovative minds. If we give them the skills and opportunities they can learn and become successful individuals.
